How to Make Potato Wedges

The best potato wedges are crisp on the outside and pillowy soft on the inside. They’re seasoned with various spices, giving them a burst of fantastic flavors.

Want to make them for tonight’s meal? Here’s how:

  1. Combine onion powder, garlic powder, parmesan cheese, salt, pepper, and olive oil. Pour the mixture into a resealable plastic bag. 
  2. Add the potato wedges to the bag, seal it, and shake! 
  3. Once the potatoes are coated beautifully, take them out and place them on a baking sheet.
  4. Bake in the oven at 425 degrees Fahrenheit for about 25 minutes or until the potatoes are fork-tender. 

Tips & Tricks

  • The best potatoes for this recipe are Russet potatoes. Firm ones with smooth skin are the most ideal. Choose similarly shaped potatoes for even cooking.
  • Ensure crisp on the outside and moist on the inside wedges by soaking the potatoes raw in hot water for 10 minutes. The process gets rid of some potato starch, which allows the spuds to absorb more moisture. Try this simple trick, and you’ll get a nice crunch in every bite. 
  • Dry the potatoes well after soaking. Lay them out on paper towels and press them dry with more paper towels. The dryer the potatoes, the crispier the outcome.
  • Don’t be afraid to season the potatoes! Coat the wedges generously with the mix to get all the flavors. You can experiment with the seasonings to get your desired flavors. Cajun spice, cayenne pepper, chili powder, and Italian seasoning are all great alternatives or additions.
  • Use freshly grated parmesan cheese for the best flavors.

  • A burger and fries are a classic combination, so it doesn’t come as a surprise that potato wedges also taste amazing with burgers.
  • Hot dogs may taste great on their own, but they taste a lot better when eaten with potato wedges. Hot dogs and potato wedges call for the same toppings/dips, such as ketchup, mayo, and mustard; so serving them together only makes sense.
  • While potato wedges are already beautifully seasoned, you can still take them to a whole new level by topping them with chili and cheese. This dish makes for an awesome appetizer!
  • Here’s another classic combo: fish and chips! Potato wedges form a great partnership with deep-fried battered fish. Both dishes have that crisp on the outside, soft on the inside qualities, making them a perfect pair.
