Experience the magic of tender, flavorful slow cooker honey garlic chicken, a dish that promises to please.

Ingredients

  • 1 1/2 pounds boneless, skinless chicken thighs, cut into chunks

  • Salt and black pepper

  • 1/3 cup honey

  • 1/3 cup low-sodium soy sauce

  • 4 cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste

  • 1 teaspoon chili paste

  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper flakes

  • 1 tablespoon rice vinegar

  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch

  • Optional toppings: Sliced green onions, toasted sesame seeds

Instructions

  • Season the chicken with salt and pepper.
  • In a medium bowl, combine honey, soy sauce, garlic, tomato paste, chili paste, red pepper flakes, and rice vinegar.
  • Place the chicken in the bottom of a 6-quart or larger slow cooker. Pour the prepared sauce over the chicken.
  • Cover and cook on low for 4 to 5 hours or until it reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees Fahrenheit. Stir the chicken halfway through cooking to ensure it is evenly coated with the sauce.
  • Once cooked, remove the chicken from the slow cooker and set aside.
  • Whisk cornstarch into the cooking liquid in the slow cooker. Cover and cook on high for an additional 15 minutes to thicken the sauce, stirring occasionally.
  • Return the chicken to the slow cooker and stir to coat. Let sit for 5-10 minutes to allow the chicken to absorb the flavors.
  • Garnish with optional toppings. Serve and enjoy!

Notes

  • Add a splash of orange juice to the sauce for a subtle citrus twist.
  • Garnish with fresh cilantro or parsley for a burst of color and fresh flavor.
